Mike Harwood Memorial Scholarship fund

Michael T. Harwood was a founding member of the Cuyahoga Valley Youth Organization (CVYO) that pledges to foster sportsmanship, teamwork, leadership and integrity amongst youth in the community. The Mike Harwood Memorial Scholarship fund will assist future high school graduates that have demonstrated these qualities.

The objectives and purpose of CVYO is:

• To promote local youth education and development through youth programs, activities, clubs and sports.
• To encourage athletic, artistic, science and scholastic achievement through programs, activities, clubs and sports and when possible to do this through competition.
• To encourage participation in local, state, national and international competition.
• To assist, financially, within the limits of the organization’s budget, in any endeavor suggested by the Executive Board, and approved by the membership, that will be for the betterment of the local youth.
• To foster and promote sportsmanship, leadership and growth of the local youth through their participation in the programs, activities, clubs and sports that are sponsored by the Organization.

The CVYO is a not-for-profit corporation that is tax-exempt for both federal and Ohio income tax purposes, and shall be for the benefit of the children and youth who desire to participate in programs, activities, clubs and sports to help the local youth develop in athletics, arts, sciences and scholastics.
